It all started in Sunday School when one of my classmates brought her knitting to class. I was so interested in what she was doing that she offered to teach me. Within a short time I had the hang of it and took it home to practice. I was so excited to actually be knitting. There was only one problem. When I got to the end of my first row I didn’t have the slightest idea of what to do next and I had to wait a whole week to find out. When she showed me how simple it was to just change hands and start the row over again I was amazed. That was it. I was hopelessly hooked!

As time went on I began to weave and spin. I lived for August when I could attend the Michigan Fiber Festival and immerse myself in fiber. It was an opportunity to learn more and to buy more. That is where I met Rose Nagel of Stony Pond Farm. Rose first suggested I raise my own sheep about 10 years ago but I was busy pursuing a career and not quite ready to become a shepherdess. After seeing her again at the MFF in 2010, I decided the time was right. The rest is history. What began as just a couple of sheep for the fleece to spin has become a much larger project.
